The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011
In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.
Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”
Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years! We have about five openings right now! Contact Eric Jansen for more info! (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members. Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)
Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,) and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.) Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter. Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA. Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)

There are several of us that would like to start a new Group that focuses on webcomics... but we can't figure out how. Under the group heading, there doesn't seem to be a "+ start" option, so I'm guessing we have to go through the admin? Just wondering. Please let us know!

I got your message, I can't even send messages out, it does nothing when I push the send button. Also, if I try to invite people (who are here already) to be on my friend's list, all that happens is the little man icon disappears, that is it. Also, if I click the add as friend link below where they post a comment on my PAGE, all that happens in that little spinner thingy to the left spins and spins and spins and spins some more and keeps on spinning and that is all that happens, also.
I will try disabling the things I added to my page: I bet that is what the problem is, I will let you know if that resolves my problems.
Besides not being able to send messages or invite people here to be on my friend's list, everything else is just fine.
THis is a great website.

A friend of mine, Leonora would like to help her son, Lucas to become a member of CCAS. But she was unable to. It said he was ineligible .
Thanks.
"Lucas cannot apply cause it says he in ineligible . DO you think it would be age? I could sign up under my name for him. What do you recommend?"
Merry Christmas! Leonora
I have struggling to be a published Christian artist/ writer, now I have begun to realize that goal. My first graphic novel (a novel in comic book/illustrated form) is designed for children and anyone else who has an unlimited imagination. I hope to do glory to God and pray I do not fail him.
It is entitled, "The Improbable Barnsy: A Pocket Full of Teeth" and is Christian themed with a whirl wind adventure about love, redemption, forgiveness, and doing the right thing. The style is cartoonish/fantasy, but touches upon real struggles and triumphs that children and adults face all the time. The hero of the story, Barnsy T. Boxcar, is a 4 foot tall pelican who lives in a world of unlimited possiblities.
Created, written, lettered, drawn, and colored by me, Kurt Lewis, and published by Living Word Publications (LWP). Below is the link to where it can be bought as a hardcopy and as a download. It is being published and sold through by lulu.com. I wanted to share this news with everybody, because it was an eight year journey to get here and it was worth it. Many of you had offered encouragement and advice, and for that I thank you. If you would like to see sample pages, they can be found on the lulu site.
Don't worry, I won't keep bugging folks, just ask that people pass on the fantastic news. I PUBLISHED MY BOOK, AND I HOPE PEOPLE BUY IT AND ENJOY IT.
Always,
Kurt Lewis

Happy Thanksgiving! Didn't want to skip you. I'm one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. ;)

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
The Lord be with you!
I was thinking, why don´t you make a section where comics made by the christian comics fellowship could be uploaded every week?
kind regards
