something to share

This will be my entry into the blog thing.Believe it or not,I've never really had to do it before but I feel since joining CCAS that perphaps I could share some of my experience in pencilling since so many of my friends here have the same passion for comics. The fact that we all have the same desire to promote the kingdom of God thru our various gifts mandates that we should exchange the wealth of artistic knowledge the Lord has blessed us with over the years. The secular region of the comic…See More

Amen brother Angelo!!

Thank you for your encouragement and invitation to help. I've got a splash page I've been struggling with forever (seems like). The story is about Captain Miracle dealing with the lies of Halloween which lead a young Christian into the hands of satan worshippers. I've done at least half a dozen variations and just can't seem to get it right. Need to emphasize the presence of the devil (his druids) as they're about to grab the 3 kids. Plus Cap Miracle enroute to rescue them.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

God bless,
Jimmy

I'll post a scan on my page.

Hey again!

You're right on with your response! Please be patient, as I haven't taken time to look through all the postings and material here.

In the spirit of practicing and improving our skills, let's ask our brothers and sisters who are writers to form a new discussion and post scripts for others to download and layout. Then more experienced folks can give feedback, tips, whatever.

As there is so much work involved in creating finish comic books, we should all take advantage of others abilities and work together to produce finished comic stories to post on this website.

Anybody interested?

Blessings to all

Hey Bro. Angelo,

I can only speak for myself, and I am guilty as charged. I've allowed so much "stuff" to distract from keeping online fellowship with everyone. As we know nothing happens randomly or thru chance, we should try to think of our membership with CCAS as fellowship, or in some cases, ministry! We have been called here (and thank Jesus for those who founded and maintain this site) by Jesus himself and need to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together... even cyber-assembling!

The secular comic book world is a mess. You're right that we have an opportunity to use the medium to Glorify our Lord & Savior Jesus, as well as teach and encourage our brothers and sisters!

I'm with you Angelo... keep kicking and nudging!

God bless,
Jimmy

HI Angelo,

Welcome aboard! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new CCAS Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS!

I did see your tech note come through. Geoff is the one who will address it. I'm not sure of his timing but you should hear something in the next few days.

If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site.

To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Can you post or join in a forum discussion topic, post your own blog entry or upload your art or video now? :)

At Your Service,

Scott A. Shuford

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
