Thanks for your courage...

Few people have dared to get to know me...so I appreciate your boldness in venturing onto my profile...I really do have all those talents that you read in the "About Me" Section, but I'm still working on the focus and prespiration and trust in God required to see my vision into fruition! I need more help not on my artwork though...I would like to develop a more tougher shell for this industry and become more informed as to what goes on within the fields i'm in or I don't think I'll be able to make it....I really want to be more mature in my faith and in my life in this ever deteoriating world...I really can't handle most of the entertainment that even you Christians can offer because it gets me too violent or aroused or depressed...but my friends and family think I still have a chance...and I'm still trying my hardest so you can hand me a chance as well? What do you think?

My energy meal recipe...

Posted on June 29, 2010 at 12:53pm 0 Comments

I was feeling so sluggish and lethargic this morning, but experimentalist at the same time. So I decided to make mashed potatoes to which I added:

Butter

Milk

Black Pepper

Paprika

Salt

Cheyenne Pepper

Trader Joe's "Lemon Pepper"

and Harris Ranch's "Lemon Garlic Spice"

I don't know what made the difference and some of it may be redundant, but I've never felt so charged up after a meal! Try it out; I guarantee you'll feel like you have ADHD or… Continue

Hiatus is over!

Posted on December 22, 2009 at 4:06pm 0 Comments

Back to the regular unsheduled schedule....whatever that means! I have a little time off from school to work on personal projects and kick myself back into walking with God, but I have uploaded most of the work I've done in the last few months, so please take a look!

Officially Announced Hiatus

The college's quarter has started again, and it's going to be a tough one - it's also the start of my Senior year. so I must try to cut back on online time as much as possible. I hope to share the amazing results of my efforts afterwords. Thanks for all your support and prayers if you made any for me (and continue to pray, cause I sure need it-no joke!), and hope to see you all again soon!

In whose name?

Posted on June 10, 2009 at 5:33pm 2 Comments

I've heard both sides to this argument and think I can see the common mistake. The problem is about the lack of miracle-workers in modern day society, or the lack of validation of them at least. Focusing on America, there are people who try to perform miracles, and there are people who say no one can perform miracles. Well the latter are half-right. I forgot the name of the group who said that the first-year church was the only group who could perform the supernatural; but actually they… Continue

The Versitle Shape of Snoopy....

Posted on January 26, 2009 at 7:40pm 2 Comments

I recently took another perusing through my papa's ol' paperback comics collection, and I've discovered I'm quite fond of the older drawings of snoopy, when he was more lean and mean (literally!)...I especially love the ones where his facial features or whole body are pushed to some really humoruous extremes! I've selected a few here to showcase my personal favorites:

These'll never go old for me, which is a very rare pronounce ment I make… Continue

The wonderful story problems of Oz

Posted on January 4, 2009 at 8:18pm 3 Comments

It's uncanny how self aware I can be yet still remain this awful. I'd been rotting over why my stories don't work; and I came up with this anaology of the many problems writers have with the characters from "The Wizard of Oz." I saw myself to be The Tin Man, lacking the "heart" to be a writer. It's that I can't give any personality to my characters, and my stories don't really have any emotional drive to them. I thought it was my lack of expressing emotions, but I've owing up to the fact that… Continue

Sorry, all bookings for a life have been taken:

This is a five week advanced 2d assingment (example) that started two weeks ago, and I'm already falling behind. To skip past debate over what to call these (extremes, keys, bdwns, etc)...I can safely tell there is at least 6 drawings that have to go between most of these drawings and this is on 2's, 24 fps...I was really lethargic the first week since the teacher basically grew fed up with all the students coming into the class not knowing how to animate so he modeled the class to just be… Continue

I just found this on one of the lab computers...I'm guessing it has something to do with programming CG applications...or the hardware for it...over 80& of those symbols are now lost on me...there was once a time in High school where I finally understood how to use matrix's...sigh but if I brush out my high school textbooks… Continue

HI UnchartedSpirit,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
