Pentecostal Church of God

This is a rendition of my hometown church. Original is ink on card stock. It was for a cookbook that a couple of the ladies put together. We are selling the cookbook to help the church afford new features; it is very old and could use improvements.

Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
I've been a serious Christian for about 3 years now. I like comics, anime, video games and music. I have been wanting to draw comics for nearly a decade. I draw realism, but also anime/comic style. I have been selling portrait commissions for quite a few years now - people and animals are my specialty. A little rusty when it comes to machines, cars or buildings.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I've been going to church (and drawing) since I was 3, but I lacked the sustaining relationship with Jesus. Now I'm ready to take my faith to the next level. I love the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and I would love nothing more that to demonstrate that with my artwork in comic book creation.

I married Adam, a Christian (writer), in 2007. He got me to read the Bible for the first time. We are a creative team, in Jesus.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
Inker? I love working with ink, but that feels a bit limiting. I like to tell stories with art, but I'm not great at the "story" part.. :P My dream job would be to illustrate biblical morals and teachings in comic form.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Kouta Hirano - Hellsing. I really like the characters; I relate well with they're struggle and emotion. Plus the artwork style is beautiful, and the artist/writer is a ragtag procrastinator like me.

Welcome to the CCAS. This is a excellent site to connect with brothers and sisters in the Lord, who not only love Jesus, love comic. We are all thankful fot the artistic giftings He has given us. If you have any samples of your work, I would encourage you to post them. Now may the God of our Savior, Jesus Christ, richly bless you, your household, and the works of your hands.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
