Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
Creating comics and manga, graphic design, and CG coloring.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 15. Most of my life up until that time I was a casual churchgoer. My Freshman year of High School, I was deemed as a social misfit in some ways. So I went to a Christian play with my HS youth group called The Rapture. While there, the Holy Spirit tugged at my heart and accepted the invitation to be saved.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
Other than a full time mangaka, I would say a CG colorist.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Jim Lee
Frank Miller
Tite Kubo
Noburto Watsuki

The LP Graphic Novel Code name: LP DSW

Ok, while I am doing the online series of The Lightning Prophetess, I saw something I needed to do.  I want to make the graphic novel version of LP a little more action oriented like a typical manga.  So, I began the ardeous task of editing.  It is a retelling of the 1st 3 LP issues in a different way, basically from the perspective of Shandra Knight (Lightning Prophetess).  Its coming along well, just drawing it has been a challenge but a welcome one.  Since this is my first graphic novel,…

By the way, I was a misfit too. (I'm homeschooled online now, heh) So, it's cool to hear your testimony. :)

HI Shandra,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

At Your Service,

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

Hi Shandra,
I'm always thrilled to see a fellow female artist on CCAS! I draw manga style too although my debut project is a hybrid of both American/manga.
Anymoo, a belated welcome to teh group, I hope you find a lot of support ad encouragement here!

A book I recently purchased is "Making Comics" by Scott McCloud. It is published by HarperCollins Publishers in 2006. I highly recommend it.
