Instigator, writer, artist, editor.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
Long of short, in my teens and early twenties, I lived for myself and how high I could get. Living to get wasted filled me with self hate, hate for people and hate for God. Then the Father started softening my heart and start the conversion processes. Then I found a strong church and converted into Christianity. That was in 1989. Since then I have been studying the bible almost daily and drowned myself in theology and doctrine studies, while learning the extreme value of humility, love, and extreme mercy.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
Writer, editor, artist. I have no pro. experience in comics, but I am a published poet, writer, and artist. I studied studio art at Ohio University as well as a great deal of practice and art classes in High School.years ago. I worked as the Art Editor for Envoi magazine.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, John Buscema, Sal Buscema, John Romita, Gil Kane, John Byrne, Chris Clairmont, Joe Kurbert and his two sons, Bill Sienkiewievz (sp?), Kurt Swan, Neal Adams, early Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Alan Moore, Scott Allie, Mario Guevara, Jo Ladronn, Jerry Ordway, Sergio Aragones, Bernie Wrightson, John Romita jr., Alex Ross, Mike Mignola, and many more.

Comic writers send in a few pages of their script and an editor looks over it and gives feedback for all to see. The person who gives the feedback also looked at a few pages of one my scripts a few months back (not via the website though), and his feedback was very helpful. I'm praying all goes will with the development of your projects, and any way I could help/support let me know.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
