Greetings Micah,
Nice to meet you. I was just responding to friends and ran across your page.
Great work!!! Funny how God can use a person to inspire or encourage another.
Just a glimpse of your work perked me up. Keep doing your thing and may God continue to bless you.

Pray, and continue reading His Word, and God will direct your steps, Micah. That's what I'm doing with each aspect of my books as well. Personally, I believe that the clearer the message, the better (when self-publishing something that you want to be of evangelistic value), but that doesn't mean that there can't be a lot going on on many levels in our work, some quite subtle and some quite apparent, but all of it to the glory of God.

Kind regards in Christ Jesus,
Alec

Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
Drawing, creating, and trying to find a way to use those things to serve God and be a witness for Christ.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I was raised a Christian home, but like most people, I had to find my own way. That way included me straying away from Christ for a few years, dabbling in Buddhism, and then coming back to my original beliefs stronger than before, and with a more solid understanding of the spiritual world. God's love and mercy are great, and I am eternally grateful for what he has allowed me to accomplish and for the blessings he's bestowed upon me. I certainly haven't done anything to deserve them yet, but that's something that I am working toward.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
I'm already doing what I love doing professionally, but the real thing I want is do something in comics that really has a positive impact on people's lives and hopefully even bring a few to Christ! It seems very difficult when I think about it, but I know God gave me my abilities for a reason, so I know he can use them for his purpose.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Mike Mignola, Claire Wendling, Travis Charest, Eduardo Risso, J. Scott Campbell, Sergio Toppi, Keron Grant...Lots of old illustrators too...I love Franklin Booth, J.C. Leyendecker, Alphonse Mucha, Edmund Dulac, Arthur Rackham, N.C. Wyeth...Those guys are really inspirational.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
