One new art piece to view

Posted on October 29, 2007 at 8:16pm 0 Comments

I just posted a new piece of art, check it out if you have the time. It just went to the moderator for approval so it may take a bit before is up for viewing.

I also wanted to say that its been great meeting and chatting with everyone.

The new piece of art is my newest coloring job. I am hoping to get my skills up to the point where I can charge people to do this without feeling guilty, ha ha. See what you think and I am looking for some feedback, positive and negative as… Continue

Hello to everyone here at CCAS

Posted on October 23, 2007 at 8:30pm 0 Comments

I am a newbie here, only my second day. I uploaded some of my design work. I have never really worked doing comic styled art as you will see from what I have posted. I tend to be all over the place as an artist and have never really taken the time to develop a specific style. This is something that I hope to change as time goes on. Like I said in my profile, I am a huge Fantasy Art fan and this is the style of artwork that I am currently working towards learning. What do I mean by that, well… Continue

HI Lance,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

At Your Service,

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

Still working the two jobs. Good news is I was able to get the Bryce issue figured out so that works great. Now, I just need some time to work on some projects.

Okay, well, its been like forever and a day since I posted anything. Life gets way to busy sometimes. Right now I am working two jobs so my free time, what little I have goes to my wife and kids, hopefully in about 6 weeks or so my second job will be done and I can get back to creating some more cool stuff. I am still fighting to get my Bryce program to work so thats not going anywhere soon. I have some projects that I would like to render out and post for you guys to check out. Hope that works out soon. Thanks, Lance

Hey, you have some great artwork here! I like the 3D artwork. I've been toying around with Blender, and have yet to get the hang of manipulating 3D space (I've been trying to build a cool, futuristic motorcycle, but it looks more like a very battered trashcan on it's side... oh well!)

Went out to your web-site - like the front page. Hope to see more soon! I'd like to see what you do for work and in your off hours - do you ever feel like as a graphic artist you're making made to order design and never being that creative? Or trying to add "jazz" to a screeching alley cat? Anyway, check out my website if you're interested.

Hi to a fellow graphic artist! Sounds like you've got some nice projects you get to work on. I get to do the exciting stuff when I come home, as I work doing graphic design for the insurance industry - hah! But there's some fun stuff that sometimes comes across the desk.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
