Profile Information

Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
You could say I'm a quasi-journalist of sorts. I used to write for pop culture/faith on-line mag, Infuze and now write for Broken Frontier as well as my blog. I've done dozens of interviews with a multitude of comic book writers, artists and editors over the last 2 years and I love it. I'm an unashamed superhero fan but love a good indie tale too.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
My dream job is just around the corner. My current job is in admin for a large architectural design firm, but thanks to my work on Extra Sequential (a free, on-line comics mag) I'm currently working with a publisher for the first print edition in January. Woo-hoo!
Favorite Comic Creators:
Whew. Mark Waid, Jim Lee, Alex Ross, Nate Powell, Chuck Dixon, Geoff Johns, Doug Mahnke, Craig Thompson, Paul Dini.....

Arcana Magazine In November Previews

Posted on October 29, 2009 at 7:00am 0 Comments

What a blessing this is! At the start of the year myself and a friend started

Extra Sequential, a free on-line mag all about comics. After 3 issues we were picked up by Arcana Comics from Canada. For the last few months we've been working on the transition of ES to print, and it's now arrived! Well, sort of. Arcana magazine is a full colour quarterly and is featured in November's Previews catalogue, for January shipping… Continue

Extra Sequential #3

Posted on August 7, 2009 at 8:46pm 0 Comments

This has been out since late June, but I forgot to post it here! This is our last issue, as we've been picked up by a Canadian publisher and are currently working on the first print edition, for release in January. Thank you Lord! Issue 3 has an interview with the man behind Gestalt Publishing, as well as with Brian Cronin from about his new book and with Christian novelist Robin Parrish regarding his new sci-fi novel, Offworld. There's also heaps of great art and… Continue

Extra Sequential #2 Out Now

Posted on March 28, 2009 at 6:19am 0 Comments

The second issue of my free on-line comics mag,

Extra Sequential is now out. It's 88 pages long and has interviews, reviews and features, plus gorgeous full colour art. Read all about Flash Gordon, Joe Jusko, Hotwire, Kid Beowulf, Dawn of the Dread Force, Harker and so much more. Be warned though, as this ish is for mature readers, as it features some minor profanity and stuff-nothing too bad, just a warning! Hope you… Continue

My interview for the on-line Christian magazine Sight, with Scott A. Shuford can be found here.

Scott discusses his new role with CCAS and how God uses him to bring creative people together. Give it a read!

Comic Book Terminology

Posted on January 25, 2009 at 3:40am 3 Comments

Part of my new free on-line mag, Extra Sequential is a regular feature called The Terminal. The aim of this feature is to simplify some common comic book terms. Here's the feature from our first issue. Enjoy!

The Terminal

The world of comic books, like any world with a devoted fan base, can appear somewhat confusing to the outsider. The Terminal is a regular feature that will define the common terms used in comic circles. In other words, this is the geek speak you… Continue

Hi ya, I know you like Christian comics so I know you'll love The Word for WORD Bible Comic(Unabridged, historically accurate graphic novel of the Bible with a high view of scripture. For ages 15+)

To complete the first book I need your help, as I am raising funds on Kickstarter. My passion is to get God's Word in full into the hands of young believer and unbelievers and comic lovers of all ages, in the hope they will come to really know God. Please check it out at the KS page, it's going well but I still need lots of backers so I hope as a CCAS member you'll please pledge to support this project...

If you are concerned about the accuracy and faithfulness to the text please read this Blog...

PS - Please add me as a friend here on CCAS

HI Kris,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

At Your Service,

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

Welcome to the CCAS. It was great meeting you at the Saturday night CCAS meeting. I had a blast. And thank you so much for the kind article on your site. My wife and I have an extreme weakness dark chocolate in all its many forms, especially when it is Italian ice cream. And you are right, it is good for you. I hope you have a great time of fellowship on this site and the Lord bless you.
