Grail Quest Books first full year, from our perspective, was very productive, exciting, and insightful.Throughout 2009 we had no less than six parties considering to fund our publisher/animation company, and four that can be labeled as "serious considerations". Due to various reasons (mostly the volatile global economy) all parties ultimately put us on their "maybe down the road" list. Traditional and grant funding for a company such as ours was heavily researched but eventually passed on as a…See More

Anyone with experience with digital animation programs?

Hello:I am looking for someone who is familiar with Adobe After Effects or Flash for a spec project I am working on (Story Planner Pro may also work for this). We are recording the voice and score tracks for the project as I type this; the digital animator is the last piece of the puzzle we need. The animating we need is likely nothing beyond moderate difficulty. If you are interested to know more, please send me a message or post here. Thanks much for any help or leads!See More

Might I say, very nice work. I wish I could draw like that. I tried posting a comment once before but I think it geeked out on me. Well worth the repeat if not.

God bless the work of your hands.

Hello Josh, I'm new to this site. Checked out the Grail Quest Books site and was intriqued. Especially the part: "publisher and producer of original comic books focusing on sweeping stories within epic fantasy or historical settings." It just so happens that I am in the process of writing (I am looking for an artist) a sequential art novel series within this type of genre. The title of the series is Champions of the Starstones and the working title for the first book is The Voyage of Wind Rider. The genre would be Fantasy/Sci-Fi. Think Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars meets Chronicles of Narnia meets Le Morte d'Arthur with American/World History & Mythology mixed in to keep things interesting... but I noticed that they are not accepting any unsolicited submissions right now. When they do I would appreciate a shout out.
Thanks and God bless.

HI Josh,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
