Big Wow ComicFest at San Jose Convention Center, Hall 3

May 21, 2011 at 10am to May 22, 2011 at 5pm
So I though I'd bring this to the attention to my fellow Bay Area CCAS buddies. This year's Super-Con event will be bigger and better than past events. This year's convention will be taking place at Hall 3 of the San Jose Convetion Center as opposed to the small tent in previous years. Guests include: Denise Crosby, Frank Cho, Sergio Aragones, Vic Micnogna, Herb Jefferson Jr., and many, many more. I guess if anyone wants to have a table space, there's still some spots left.I should be going on…See More

My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
Well, yeah, I could write for days about my testimony and how Christ how worked in my life, but I got other things that require my attention. However, I will say that Christ has always been there for me, whether I'm having a good day or a bad day. I'm been through a few trials and tribulations and I know that not only did he use those for His glory but also because they helped me to grow in Him. One time, the enemy tricked me into believeing that I wasn't a planned chile and that a girl I liked would never like me back and I felt like hurting myself to ease the pain. God really helped me out cuz I cried out to Him and needed His strength. I was just really depressed and didn't know what to do. I've been follwing Christ for most of my life and I am thankful for another day that isn't promised. Nothing can compare to the faith, hope, and love He offers.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”
