My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
Jesus is life. Without him we are the walking dead. The grace i have found myself, through a faith he has given, has nurtured my creativity, not hampered it. He is, after all, the creator of all things... and therefore, by nature, very creative. i am grateful to be loved & i hope that through my art i can give some love back.

thanks. yeah, i've been on hear for a long time now. this is he best place on the web, that I know of, for Christian comic book artists. As far as your stuff goes, it's not bad. I does need some work, but it reminds me of a few edgy manga styles that I always loved. Keep at it my brother.

You still have one of the most unique styles of comic art that I've seen . Keep doing your work for the Lord man. Honor Him in all of your artwork.

1 Corinthians 15:58

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

I can definitely relate to your creative process. I often get stories from just drawing a single image. And since I was a kid I've let my imagination uncontrollably create universes of exiting characters and stories. They come, and sometimes go, all the time. I have folders full of old drawings, notes, and note books with the beginning of several stories. The thing is I would like to get past the beginning this time. So i find my imagination to be a little more limited now that I'd like to focus on one story, and i feel assured that this story has no spiritual blocks or walls keeping me from proceeding. I pray that I can finish it and that it can be used to the fullest for Gods glory.

Thanks for sharing, and answering my questions (sorry to ask so much). I appreciate your insight, and I agree with your thoughts on Christian comics. I am learning allot and I see God has shown you the same things. This is good considering that the Bible tells us to be like minded (Philippians 2:2, 1 Peter 3:8). I pray that we can show others these same Bible based views. Thanks for your response

God bless

I learned to draw in a similar way. From secular comics, and artist, and some instructional books. So like you I was kind of self taught. When I decided to give my life over to God I eventually stopped reading secular/worldly comics. But I would still look at the art often to help me (wasting allot of time). However a little while ago i started to think about the fact that the same characters are portrayed, and the with the same immoral behavior in the art. So lately I've strayed away from that, and I've been trying to learn from books, like George Bridgman collections, other art books I have at home and life in general. I'm thinking I should become an artist before I become a comic artist. I spent allot of time trying to find my own style, but when i look back at my work I realize I had my own style at each stage of my art.

I totally agree with what you said about the purpose of our art and comics. I don't want to have any sort of compromise in my comics. I hope to create stories that ultimately glorify God, while the other elements just compliment the focal point. I also find my self straying more and more from entertainment and reading made for adults. The problem is with the way the world is going adult and or worldly themes are very popular in most forms of children / teen entertainment.

It is all about Jesus. Many of my stories have been shot down when God shows me little details that distract from his glory and/or compromise His key values. I can definitely relate to the story conversations. These are the times when God really tutors me and corrects my thinking, totally reforming my mind and therefore how i live.

What is your unique comic process as an independent creator?

Wow. This sounds like a really intriguing story. I'm interested to see how the art and story unfolds. Thanks for sharing. How did you learn how to draw comics, and how do you continue to improve your skills? Sorry for asking so many questions.

Does Knife Heart Road have a Christian element to it, or promote a message for Christ.

Thanks for the tips. Its allot of work, but im looking forward to doing an independant graphic novel, and learning from the experience.I keep wanting to wait until i can draw, color, shade, and story-tell perfect, but thats never going to happen. So i might as well just hop into the experience knowing that ill learn from my mistakes, and it may not look exactly how i want it but, i'll be so happy that i finally did it.

You make the process very simple. that lets me know I can make a graphic novel without all the expensive tools and software. I also use prisma color markers, but i need to buy more colors for what i plan on working on. The story i am currently working on is called "House of Sparrows".

Your drawings are great because your style is really unique. I like the fact that you use markers to color your comics, because i was thinking I would do the same, and now I see how great it can look. Those look like prisma colors. Is that all you usually need for coloring? Your story looks interesting, and it would be great to see more about it.
God bless

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”
