Starting in Asia

Posted on November 27, 2008 at 1:21pm 0 Comments

We are pursuing plans to begin our magazine distribution in Asia. A friend with connections pursued a friend with connections and lo and behold, it seems that Wise Tales will likely begin by sending electronic copies to our Asian friends and distributing through a Christian publishing house. This is how things stand at this point. It's a bit slower than first expected but no less exciting for all that. Thanks be to God.

Learning the Ropes

I've planned, designed, laid-out, agonized and prayed over this magazine and magazine launch for the past 7 months. It's interesting to see how past experiences have in some measure prepared me for this (God's good at ordering our steps, isn't He?), but in many ways I still feel inadequate (You're asking me to be a publisher, Lord--are You SURE about this?). My hopes have gotten dashed here and there as I learn the ropes of what to expect and what not to expect. But God continues to encourage… Continue

Hi ya, I know you like Christian comics so I know you'll love The Word for WORD Bible Comic(Unabridged, historically accurate graphic novel of the Bible with a high view of scripture. For ages 15+)

To complete the first book I need your help, as I am raising funds on Kickstarter. My passion is to get God's Word in full into the hands of young believer and unbelievers and comic lovers of all ages, in the hope they will come to really know God. Please check it out at the KS page, it's going well but I still need lots of backers so I hope as a CCAS member you'll please pledge to support this project...

If you are concerned about the accuracy and faithfulness to the text please read this Blog...

PS - Please add me as a friend here on CCAS

HI Christina,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

At Your Service,

Scott A. Shuford
CCAS Board Member 2008-2010

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."

Hi Chris,
Just saw your post on Kathleen's page, and I know what it's like to not now how you can pay the bills, but I've learned that God doesn't want us to worry about tomorrow, because each day is filled with His grace. Just trust Him one day at a time believe that those bills are paid in Jesus name and rest in his love for you.
Beloved in Grace,

You appear to be closer to realizing a dream I've had for years now, ever since I first saw the phone-book sized manga from Japan. It has been in my heart to either publish or be a part of a magazine of comics and articles (more like Shojo Beat rather than the actual Japanese manga) for young girls, aged 8 to 14. So far He has not opened the door for me to do so. However, may God bless your efforts.

Thanks for taking time to check out Faith Walker. I appreciate the positive comments. That's my wife Marjane and I doing the chores on the Faith Walker theme song. Wise Tales looks pretty powerful. Please keep me posted.
Be Blessed,
