Hello, New Here!

Hello, everyone! My name is Mallory, but online I go by the pen name ChristianKitsune (old name, it doesn't seem to want to go away though) So you can call me whatever, (Mal, CK, Kit) doesn't matter to me.  I'll be brief, and I'll start off by introducing myself! I'm a college senior, majoring in Painting and Drawing (I'm going for my BFA)  and I hope graduate in December. (fingers crossed!) I'm a freelance illustrator, I specialize in animals and people, still learning backgrounds. I really love to work with digital media, and I like to experiment with color and different forms of shading.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
My story is simple, I don't have the big huge testimony about how God saved me from a life of horror. I was raised to know who Christ is, I accepted him into my life when I was very young. But I do believe if it weren't for Him, I'd be a completely different person on a completely different path. He's probably saved me from a life that I'd never want to live. Because of Him I know who and whose I am and I want to give back everything to Him.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
My dream job would be to use my art to reach people. Be that in Illustration for children's books or creating comics. I know that God has given me a talent and a passion for drawing and illustrating and I really just want to use that for Him.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

 

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
