Prequels & Sequels, Not Really Equals

(posted here on my blog;not really a Christian topic, tho I do mention Narnia) .....Ideally every story should be about the single most important event in the life of the protagonist.Series stories need to be about the most important event in some character's life.TV shows are frequently franchise shows: Comedies and cop shows (i.e., their mission is to set things right, be they cops, cowboys,…See More

Gospel Of Mark Fragment Dated To 50-100AD !!!

Well, this is interesting!  Professor Daniel Wallace reports the finding of a fragment of the Gospel of Mark which, if it has been dated accurately, was written sometime between 50 and 100 AD, making it a near contemporaneous account of Christ's ministry and certainly a document written well within the lifetimes of several key participants!See More

Mr. Dixon,

First off let me thank you for being the first person to send me a comment on the Christian Comic Arts Society website. I'm very glad to be a member of this association. I'd also like to thank you for all the wonderful animated cartoons that you've written. I was born in 1976 so I grew up on the great animated shows of the 1980's. Believe it or not my one of my favorites are the super hero cartoons from the Super 7 (Super Stretch & Microwoman, Manta and Moray, Web Woman, and The Freedom Force). You wrote some very good stories on those shows in my opinion. I also have the NFL Superpro (yes I really do like that character) comic books you wrote for Marvel Comics.

Well it's time for me to go now. Take care.

Oh yes! Tons...besides dealing with churches that don't believe you can dance for God, I deal with people saying "you can do so much more if your dance wasn't religious". But I've been in it for 11 years and I love it!

Hey Buzz, I guest my last email to you got lost, so:

Firstly thanks for the official CCSA welcome to me for joining the CCSA website.  I guess its routine, but it shows that you're one of the site shepherds and keeping an eye on the newbees. I appreciate that.

Secondly, I appreciate you jumping in on the Emily Colonado thread (New aspiring writer). Many comments she's dropped indicate, that she's more interested in a social outlet for writers and dreamers.  I'm not able to privide that on several counts...but isn't there a crowd of young writers hanging around this site that could provide that?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Mr. Dixon,
Well, I'm new here, but have already jumped in to the conversations, and am thankful for some of the stuff going on here. I only joined recently, but had the pleasure of attending the CCAS Sunday meeting at Comic Con this past year. My wife and I were pleased to see and hear from creator's who hold Christ above all, and aren't afraid to talk about things that sometimes get whisked away because they're too "touchy".

On a personal note, I am also a big fan of your work, specifically on GI Joe and (I didn't realize this until recently) Thundarr. Formative years stuff, and I still enjoy them to this day. I am, my friends tell me, a giant nerd. Whatever.

I am encouraged by Christ time and again, and the fact that there is a community of talented people holding the Lord high, and with similar interests, is a blessing to be sure. I'm intrigued by your work in Manga now, and look forward to seeing where it will lead.

God is good, all the time! Peace,
-Nas

So, you're the one who has created the Serenity comics. How are those going? Are they successful?

Greetings Buzz, Sundays message was fresh water in the dry desert for me. Again, I thank the lord for using you. Question/request: Do tou have the scriture text and verse that you based your message on? I came in a little late so I don't believe i recieved all of what you had to say. The Points that spoke to the condition of my sirit were:
1) Don't pay attention to others
2) Be prepared
3) Do your best
This is what I recieved...I think I'm close. Please elaborate.

Be Blessed,

Thanks Clint

hi Buzz- I'm really impressed with Goofyfoot gurl- I found it at my local bookshop in Geelong- near Melbourne, Australia- and I was so wrapped to find some cool manga at a Christian bookshop!! although I'm 35 I still feel a burden for the young ones who I think need this kind of cool medium to combat some of the great artwork out there that is steering them the wrong way. my project is www.prodigal.mdhayden.com if you're interested in a sci-fi version of the Prodigal son story

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!
