You didn't hijack the thread!  In fact, between you and Alika, I started asking questions.  Which, sent me straight into God's word for answers.  And that's a good thing.  God is working through both of you to point out where I'm being ignorant.  =)  But, I'm at a point now where I have more questions than answers. LOL  And this lack of understanding what God is trying to tell is a real bummer.

Thank you for you warm welcome to CCAS.  And please don't hesitate to comment.  You might be doing me an injustice if you don't! ;P

Hi Brian Jeffery Durham. How do you do?

Well I plan to finish it but for now I am working for an online comic book. I am their CGI animator. I need to pay bills and I have come to realize that you can not go into the christian market thinking to make any money. because then you will build up expectations that may never happen. I feel that is why it failed because of those same expectations. We started out to do it for the lord and that was awesome. But some how we got off track in thinking we would be the next BIG IDEA Company.

When or if the lord opens the door for my story it will be the biggest Christian 4 book novel series that this world would ever see and I mean that because the description that the lord gave me just for the angles and how the move threw the world with us and battle around us is amazing. I know I could not even come-up with the plot by myself. Its all the lords. and all his glory. So its all in outline form and notes. Because I am not a writer or a creative writer. I am a designer animator. So spelling, punctuation as you can see in this email escapes me. LOL Once I have all outlines done I will have to find a writer to write all this out. I even started the screenplay in note form as well I am working on it. but with no plan what to do with it ,where the next step would be or even just getting help to organize my thought process it really going. It may just stay in note form and thats why I said maybe one of my girls can do something with it.

Hi Jeffery Im fine, it is a downer but it had become stagnate over the past 2 years. all though The story has gotten Lord of the rings big and dynamic to the point of me writing it in a 4 part Novel series at this time just for fun. The CGI affects alone would have to be Hollywood style or more. I mean how do you show the bending of air in a comic book and not make it look cheesy. Its like what Ralph Winters said if you are going to do something for Christ do it it in full. He is the directing producer for all the x-man movies. I do not know how or where it will go once it is done. Im just burned out on dealing with christian publishers and their games. Maybe my 3 little girls can do something with it that I couldn't when they get older. LOL I'm rambling.

But thank you for your concern. God Bless

Tom

Pencil 2D Animation Software is easy to use with a tablet!!!

If I wasn't looking for options for Michele Leacock who wanted software options for animation, I have no idea when I would have used Pencil ( http://www.pencil-animation.org/ ) again. I had used it with a mouse before and wasn't amazed... when is a non-photo-editor graphic program amazing with a mouse? But with this little Bamboo pen... it's wow... i mean... WoW... or wait... is it WOW?

Pencil exports MOV files fine. You can open them up and resave them with Quicktime Pro so a pic in the MOV file is displayed while the file isn't saving.
Pencil imports BMP files. It works well. (Lots of programs export BMP files.)

The hand tool does three things, including rotating the page with the alt key pressed, and zooming in and and out with a mouse button... middle mouse button?

Peregrine introduces new workflow

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 3:30pm 0 Comments

Peregrine introduces a digital glove that instead of mimicking a mouse, it mimicks a keyboard.  This creates a new workflow of tablet/mouse in conjunction with a digital glove on the another hand.  Because this glove mimicks a keyboard, there is no keyboard required in today's keyboard shortcut workflows.

Presently, it is usb only.  They are releasing a bluetooth version in the future, but did cite wired as commonly known to have the fastest reliable performance.  The link is…

SketchFlow - odd

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 5:01pm 2 Comments

SketchFlow is a program from Microsoft written for web design.  It has a rather innovative approach to page flow, as the sketches are actually attached to the flow chart symbols.  I had asked questions about it to others, but after using it, I figured it might waste the time to others and deleted that post.

SketchFlow is a cool idea implementation, though on my computer it isn't very fast at drawing directly into the computer.  If you import sketches in, you can use the…

Are you ready to be a Daddy?

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 7:52am 1 Comment

Nope.  That's my answer, but I ain't telling it to my other half.  A wonderful miracle(and I don't use this word lightly) is growing in my wife's womb, and as amazed as I am that this little bundle of personality is so safe from the numerous things a human body goes through each day in sitting, standing, laying down, getting up, rolling, I feel as equally unprepared.  Yes, I'm talking about a baby.

People talk about teaching a baby, a child so much.  After all, that's what…

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
