Divide and Conquer

A question has been brooding in my mind for a few weeks now and once again I am bringing my quandry to this fellowship for some guidance. My work demands have drastically changed and it has been over a week since I've been able to touch my book. With my new responsibilities, I'm fairly certain I'm not going to reach my self imposed December deadline. During this time, I've begun contemplating a different approach for the book as well. SO here it is: Factoring in primarily cost plus available…See More

Hey guys, can anyone share some adice on lettering? I'm using Photoshop, because embarassingly, I'm not too fluent in Illustrator. IN any event, all my "balloons' look like big old ovals and I'm not real satisfied with them. I'd hate to see this book suffer because I'm missing something crucial. Thanks for any help. I'm enclosing an example so you can see what I'm talking about (Page 4)

A little direction or advice...

Hello everyone. I'm currently knee deep in a 2+year project creating a graphic novel adapted from the harmony of the Gospels. The end result is a 220 page comic version of the life of Christ that I want to use as a ministering tool to youth who might not be so quick to pick up their bible, but may be interested in this instead. I'm pretty confident in the creative aspect of this but have little idea as to how to get this published or financed. I'm including the youtube link here for anyone…See More

My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
Simply put, I was an unemployed, homeless addict who was prepared to call it quits. On the night I planned to end my life, I reahced into the back seat of my truck to grab a gun I stole form my brother. Instead my hand found a bible given to me. At that moment, I ask God to take over since I had done such a "great job" up to this point. That was the last time I touched drugs. Over the next few months I found a job, a church and a calling to serve the Lord through my artwork.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
To publish my current project, thus planting seeds to bring others to Christ
Favorite Comic Creators:
I've been influenced by different artist over the course of the years, depending on how my tastes evolve.

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)
