Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
I'm a pastor/teacher in Sulphur Springs, TX. I'm still learning as an artist and love to write.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I came to know Christ through watching my mother's baptism. At 16, I surrendered to the ministry. Now, I'm trying to let my art and my writings speak what I know of Christ, in hopes that someone will come to know Him through me.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
Working as anything in a comic book company. Writer, pencil artist, colorist, letterer.....I'd even take a copy boy position.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Stan Lee and company :-D

Finally settling on something...

Everyone knows I'm the world's worst at starting projects then never finishing. I've got Outcasts, Faith Noir, Simon Wraith (a comic I wrote 4 years ago), and now I've got story ideas for two more comics. They're popping in my head faster than I can create them. To be honest, it's kind of discouraging to have so many started projects and no completed projects.

I think the problem is that I'm a one-man show. I'm trying to do the writing, pencils, inks, and coloring all on my own, and… Continue

I enjoy your work. Yet, it hard to found content. Maybe, which to wordpress/comicpress would help.

Hey, Branson, hope it's okay, but I'd like to add somethinig about your comment, take it as good advice. I'm just like you, there's just so much going on in my head and heart from God that it's alot to keep up with. It's not that your bombared with ideas and having a lack of focus, time or resources to complete anything, like you said, but you've got to slow down and let the Holy Spirit flow through you. Here's some advice, don't let anything rest! Keep a filing cabinet with all of your ideas, you should see mine! You can have a great idea, but bad timing and bad marketing will keep you frustrated. Keep this in mind....(F-O-C-U-S- "Follow One Course Untill Successful.") You want Isaiah moments, not Ishmael moments. (I can explainif needed or ask your pastor). You have great ideas, remember, FOCUS. If you'd like, you're welcome to submit anything to us.

Hey, Branson! I just noticed you live in Forth Worth. I went to Christ For The Nations in Dallas, my brother and his ministry team (www.rickpino.com) is in Arlington. I'm there quite abit. Thank you for the compliment. It's all for God's glory and we stay humble. I looked at your work, you have a great start! If you ever need help or advice, I'm hear for you. What are some of your now, short and long term goals that you'd like to accomplish?

Hey Branson, thanks for the comments. As for Comixpress, I'm sort of mixed currently. They did a fantastic job with the printing, but here's the thing: I've NEVER received a penny from them! LOL!
Granted, I know I don't make much per book sale, but all the same, they've never once sent me a check. I need to email them again about this. If you do go with them, ask them what their payment policy will be like for you.

Another option is http://ka-blam.com/printing/ for on-demand printing. They did a reprint of December Sun #1 for me and.... now that I think about it, I've never received a payment from them either! LOL!

(as you can tell, publishing comics for me is just a hobby, but all the same, I need to get on the ball and call these folks...)

Executive Decisions...

So I've made some executive decisions about my projects. here they are:(1) I haven't heard a word from Dallas about drawing Outcasts Chapter 2. Not even a reply to my email. So I've decided that I'll go back to being the artist for it. It's a compelling story with a chance to reach people, and I want to keep it up. Of course, now that school has started for me, it may be a long time before I get it up and ready. But that's how it has to be.(2) Faith Noir is going to be shortened. Instead of…See More

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”

Welcome to the Christian Comic Arts Society (CCAS) Online Network!

Did you know that CCAS has monthly meetings in the Los Angeles area? Contact Eric Jansen for more info!

Also, members of CCAS have produced the APAzine ALPHA-OMEGA for over 25 years!  We have about five openings right now!  Contact Eric Jansen for more info!  (This is a 30-member active-participation-only photocopied magazine for Christian writers and artists who submit a "trib" every other month for fun, fellowship, and critiques by other members.  Between postage and your photocopying costs, you might pay anywhere from $5 to $25 per issue.)

Your current Board of Directors includes Eric Jansen (Secretary,)  and Kevin Yong (Treasurer.)  Both have served as President of the L.A. CCAS chapter.  Kevin is also the Assistant Central Mailer for ALPHA-OMEGA.  Also on the Board are Scott A. Shuford (Vice President) and Geoff Strout (Webmaster.)
