My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I was born with chronic sickness, which has plagued me with severe pain and discomfort all my life. (Seeing how that pretty much killed my dreams of being a pro baseball player, I went into art.) For some reason, I've decided to allow my suffering to bring me closer to Him. I can't answer the questions of why, but I can say, yeah, I've been there, it sucks, but I know GOD is still faithful.
I think that it is because of the joy in CHRIST that I am able to weave humor into my work, whether it is a satire on society, or a comical illustration of the joys of childhood.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
To license either my characters or my style into a variety of products and merchandise.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Bill Watterson, of course. Thomas Nast, Henry Payne, Michael Ramirez, Scott Stantis, Jef Mallett
Welcome aboard! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the CCAS Board members. I want to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS!
If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site.
We are looking for someone to serve as the prayer coordinator for the group. We are also looking for writers who would like to interview industry people and write up articles for us. If either of those tug on your heart, then please contact me.
To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.
Can you post or join in a forum discussion topic, post your own blog entry or upload your art or video now? :)
Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
