The 5th branch

After sending my last email newsletter, (don’t go looking for it, I only sent it in French)I was seized by a terrible fear-" arrgh! What happens if no-one gets the irony ?They’ll think that I’ve gone off the straight and narrow, that I’m getting a fat head... or worse still, that I read Sonic the Hedgehog comics in secret!Everyone will give up on me...! "(I get like this sometimes)  I went off into the deepest part of the forest- " ...what would it be like if I lost my reputation as a good…See More

Marching orders…Being in an inquisitive frame of mind,I sent off an email to ‘my’ personal prayer team, saying: - “I feel that God is asking me to do stand-up in the non-church sector,But I don’t know how to go about it…” the sentence was barely written, not even sent yet, when:Driiiing!I get an invitation to a comedy festival in the south of Francein two months’ time. After the show:Jesus’ gardenwe don’t go into the forest much these days because my leg’s broken(but I don’t hold that against…See More

Alain Auderset's story

A simple guyI was just a simple guy, one of those you see everyday in the street … Nothing really special… I’ve done stupid things, nothing terrible though, and not more often than anyone else, a pretty normal guy in the end … (I haven’t led a gang or killed anybody, sorry!)My parents held a small drinks shop (coke, beer, wine…) and I sometimes worked there after school. I probably could have taken it over and had a settled life, as ordinary as it gets…But I was lacking something deeper,…See More

Underground with Dad

Mission impossibleRight under my comic-writing workshopis a cellar filled with soil (in some places it reaches the ceiling)I'm digging in there with all my might with a pickaxe, shovel and wheelbarrow. The plan is to make a music room. This makes me think of the huge scale of the task I set myselfwhen I want to reach "Mr Everyman" with the gospel through my comic books(or to give my testimony on CNN, or become friend with the Chinese emperor, or harder still, to convince my wife what's the point…See More

My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
While I was a schoolboy, I participated to the traditional collection of used papers for recycling. This was the perfect occasion to keep, for my own collection, some of the newspapers which had been thrown away or some comics strips which I liked a lot.
When I discovered one day a huge stack of papers in a cellar that I was emptying, I took profit of the opportunity and stuffed as many newspapers as I could under my pull-over before retreating back to my home where I could peacefully explore my findings…
Reading these comics strips was the beginning of a revelation that would later dramatically change my life.

The true stories contained in these booklets described all sorts of people who did good things having the Christian as common background.
This curiosity led me also to meet and accept personally the one who would become the reason of my life: Jesus Christ!

After completing my education in the field of art and graphics and after years spent in destitution, I released, my first comics book - Conventional Wisdom - in 2001. It was soon followed by four others, Marcel, Robi, Conventional Wisdom 2 and Willy Grunch.
Favorite Comic Creators:
Moebus, Masashi Kishimoto, Bourgeon, Julliard, etc it changes often...

Thank you for friending me! I'm not on here very often my interest in comics has been distracted by the needs of family and finances. Hope to get active again if God allows.

Hey. I'm near Melbourne in Victoria. I've been working a lot on my www.prodigal.mdhayden.com comic lately. I will have to post the new page/s. It's been ages since I've worked on my comic because I've been working on some music projects that are also very time consuming. what are you working on? I was encouraged too that you go around handing out tracts. I really think some people would be attracted to reading more about Jesus when it is combined with interesting artwork as opposed to a whole heap of text that a lot of people aren't interested in reading.

Ahh. I don't have any suggestions on the direct connection at the SD Comic-Con. There's not really a Christian part of the festival. It's just one big event, though CCAS does a few things that the Con kind of makes their token (and appreciated!) Christian representation within the Con. There is a media divide in the US because there is so much Christian media and our general media companies are very biased in their coverage - they don't look objectively for news, they look for news they want to personally support...

CCAS at Comic-Con

The 'Spirituality in Comics' Panel from San Diego Comic-Con 2011

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.

Panelists including SERGIO CARIELLO (The Action Bible), RUSSELL DALTON (Marvelous Myths: Marvel Superheroes and Everyday Faith), BUZZ DIXON (Serenity/Hits & Misses), and MIKE SHIELDS (Blue Blazes) discuss how a new generation of comics and pop culture are exploring timeless truths and also address the question “Is Mass Media Our New Church?”
