A Network of Christian Fellowship for Comics Fans, Pros, and Amateurs

So it's been a while since I've been able to post anything to CCAS, but that doesn't mean that I've been able to slack off!

Between a new day job at a print shop (hello cheaper printing!) and being crazy busy, it has been fairly hard to keep up with all the work.

That said, I've finished Rust Angel #6 and uploaded it onto my scribd and wowio accounts, and as always my series is completely free to read!

Here's a link to #6: Read!

Also, I got around to working some color into Rust Angel #2, and now the series is finally in full color!

Here's a link to #2: Here!, and a link to the whole collection: The whole shebang

Hi Matt! I read your books today, thank you so much for making such gorgeous books free for us to read! I admit I was carrying some baggage when I read the stories, that messed with my head a bit. 'Do angels have free will'? 'Has God made any provision for Angels to be redeemed'? and such. But I think the truth is that there really is very little set in stone in scripture about Angels, and none of that is core Gospel, so in reality there isn't anything I would point at in your book and question. Somewhere, somewhen, someone is always trying to make more 'facts' out of the Scripture than God intended. For example, the matter of Female Angels. I heard one pastor say that Angels are always Male when they appear because they always were in Biblical accounts. He wanted to make a hard and fast rule when the Bible never says Angels can't appear as Females. To me it's pretty obvious that in the Jewish Patriarchal society they would appear as Male to enhance the aura of Spiritual Authority they needed to do their missions. But the Bible said 'are neither male nor female, but are like the Angels in Heaven', so Angels would presumably need to alter their semblance to Male from their natural form (which I think is spirit and not physical, hence 'neither male nor female). Why then, wouldn't Angels equally be able to appear as Female?

I like Celeste as a feminine spirit. I felt kind of sad that she is so rebellious, assuming the innocence of humanity and the injustice of God, because I like her. Her ethical dilemma is one most human beings go through frequently in their lives. I don't know how your story is going to end, but I will trust you to glorify God and Jesus in the end:)

Good reading!

Gerry

Colossians 2:18 - Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Galatians 1:8 - But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Revelation 22:8-9

And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

Revelation 19:10 - And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Thanks for the reads and feedback, Gerry!

Like you said, Celeste is by our standards rebellious and headstrong, the choices and dilemmas she confronts are very similar to the decisions and mindsets many people have today. And even though she as an angel gets to see a much bigger picture than we do, it is still very incomplete, and her attitude certainly reflects that imperfect understanding. Though she struggles with redemption, and right now probably questions whether or not she even wants to be a part of God's plan - God certainly has a way of bringing us all back into his loving arms one way or another :) I hope you'll continue to keep up with the story!

Alika,

Thanks for these verses! I have tried to make sure in my storytelling that heaven's angels are creatures with a divine purpose, but not out for their own gain.

Celeste, too, although not affiliated with heaven, has no desire to be worshiped.

Hell's angels on the other hand... it is my belief that in real life, real spiritual warfare, there is nothing that makes a demon happier than itself receiving the worship that only our Lord deserves. Although nothing can challenge God's might, the pain that that must bring to Christ is one of the only ways that I think a demon can actually 'strike' at our maker. So I have tried to incorporate philosophy into Rust Angel's demonkind as well!
