I think the writers need to understand their audience, understand what being a teen feels like and make the stories interesting or entertaining enough to read that the readers won't get bored.

Easily said (but not easy to do) is to present a world view that matches what the Bible says. The big one being that man is fallen and utterly sinful and only God is good. That man needs a savior and only God provides the way of salvation. This cuts right to the heart of secular stories which are humanistic in nature..every one of them. In other words present the gospel rightly. That's the positive way part and should in no way be altered to be somehow "relevant" to today's kids. Let the Holy Spirit deal with "reaching" part.

In comics, movies, and even Broadway musicals like “The Book Of Mormon”, spiritual themed work seems to be unexpectedly coming from the least religious of sources.
